I started making these ritual sticks in 1985. It has always been about the process. I make these ritual sticks from wooden dowels that I can find at any hardware store. At first the tapes I used were commercial graphic tapes that have long since been discarded by the print industry as cut-n-paste techniques have given way to modern printing methods for graphic work. The ritual sticks have evolved over the years to incorporate various other sources of tapes and gels and sometimes even duct-tapes, threads and paper labels but as always these are about their energy and in the use of color and the ritual process of wrapping. No two are ever the same.
